Countdown to Peace – an exhibition for WW1

34 days until Armistice

Today we feature: Oswald Austin Reid, VC.

Oswald Reid came to Radley from South Africa in 1913.  He became Captain of Cricket.  In 2017, the Cricket Club celebrated the centenary of his winning the Victoria Cross by instituting the Oswald Reid medal for ‘dauntless courage, gallant leadership, conspicuous gallantry.’  It is not awarded automatically each year. Here is the Boys’ Own Paper’s version of the Fight at the Diala River.
