DEATHS.

CAPTAIN ALEXANDER NELSON HOOD, of the 1st Central India Horse, one of the officers killed in the. attack on Colonel von Donop’s column at Elandslaagte, near Klerksdorp, on February 25th, was the eldest son of the Hon. Alexander Frederick Hood, third son of the third Viscount Hood, by his marriage with the daughter of Mr. Algernon C. Heber-Percy, and was born in 1873. He entered the Army at the age of 20, and passed from the Manchester Regiment to the Indian Staff Corps, in which he became Lieutenant in 1896. The Army List for February states that he was attached to the 15th Batt. Imperial Yeomanry, with the rank of Captain, but probably he had been transferred to the 5th Batt. since the list was made up.
