David MacEwen, C Social 1900. 2nd Lt, 1/9th Bn, Royal Scots. Died of wounds received in an unknown engagement After school, he studied law at Edinburgh University. He was admitted a member of the Society of Writers to the Signet in December, 1910. when he joined his father’s firm, Messrs. J. and A. F. Adam, Edinburgh. He was for some time treasurer of the Juridical Society. He was a keen member of the St. Andrews Boat Club, and won the Hermiston Cup for Challenge Sculls in 1913-14. On the outbreak of the war he was very anxious to join the Army, but, owing to imperfect eyesight, he did not obtain his commission until December, 1915. He went to the front in August 1916. Aged 31 |
